INTERNATIONAL CHINESE LANGUAGE SCHOLARSHIP

In response to the surging demand for Chinese language educators worldwide, the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) proudly introduces the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the Scholarship). This initiative aims to elevate Chinese language education globally and nurture the professional development of dedicated educators outside of China.

Recommending Institutions: Confucius Institutes, independent Confucius Classrooms, esteemed HSK test centers, foreign educational institutions, Chinese language teacher training programs/departments at foreign universities, professional associations for Chinese language teaching, and Chinese embassies/consulates abroad collectively serve as Recommending Institutions. Their vital role is to identify and endorse exceptional candidates for this prestigious scholarship.

Host Institutions: Chinese universities, designated as Host Institutions, welcome scholarship recipients to pursue advanced studies in International Chinese language education and related fields. These institutions serve as hubs of excellence, fostering cross-cultural dialogue and enriching the global teaching community.

I. ELIGIBILITY

- Has studied at a Chinese Learning and Testing Center

- Non-Chinese citizen

- Friendly to China, with no criminal record

- Good physical and mental health

- Interested in Chinese language education

- Aged between 16 and 35 years (maximum age for in-service teachers: 45)

II. CATEGORIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

A. Chinese Language Teacher Scholarships

1. Scholarship for Master’s Degree in International Chinese Language Education

   - Duration: Maximum of 2 academic years

   - Research directions:

     - Teaching Chinese as a Second Language

     - Second Language Acquisition

     - Comparative Study of Chinese and Foreign Cultures

   - Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree, HSK Test (Level 5) score of 210, HSKK test (Intermediate Level) score of 60

2. Scholarship for One-Year Study Program

   - Duration: Maximum of 11 months

   - Qualifications: HSK test (Level 4) score of 180, HSKK test (Intermediate Level) score of 60

3. Scholarship for One-Semester Study Program

   - Duration: Maximum of 5 months

   - Qualifications: HSK test (Level 3) score of 180, HSKK test (Intermediate Level) required

4. Scholarship for Four-Week Study Program

   - Duration: Maximum of 4 weeks

   - Qualifications: HSK test score required

B. Scholarships for Online Programs

1. Online Program for One-Year Chinese Language Study

   - Qualifications: HSK test (Level 3) score of 180, priority given to HSKK test score

2. Online Program for One-Semester Chinese Language Study

   - Qualifications: HSK test score required

IV. Policies Regarding In-Service Chinese Language Teachers and Chinese Bridge Award Winners

- In-service teachers need proof of employment and employer recommendation

- Chinese Bridge winners submit documents along with scholarship certificates

V. RECOMMENDING AND HOST INSTITUTIONS

- Provide consulting, recommendation, and enrollment services

VI. MISCELLANEOUS

- Applicants are ineligible if they've received a similar scholarship within 3 years

- Contact Host Institutions for curriculum and enrollment matters

- Annual assessment for degree students
