Notice: The 18th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students (India, 2025)
To Whom It May Concern,
To promote cultural exchange between China and India, encourage Indian teenagers’ interest in learning Chinese, and deepen their understanding of the Chinese language and culture, the Chinese Embassy in India will host the 18th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students (India, 2025). Details of the event are as follows:
Fly High with Chinese
Must be a secondary school student in India (aged 12–18).
Must be of non-Chinese nationality, born and raised in India.
Neither the candidate nor their parents should be native Chinese speakers.
Finalists of the previous “Chinese Bridge” global competition are not eligible to participate again this year.
3.1 Online Pre-Selection Round
Participants must submit:
Chinese Poetry Recitation: Any Chinese poem you choose (within 5 minutes) via Zoom (see date below).
Chinese Cultural Talent Video: A pre-recorded 3–6 minute video showcasing one or more Chinese cultural skills such as singing, dancing, traditional musical instruments, opera, calligraphy, painting, martial arts, or cooking.
3.2 Offline Final & Award Ceremony
Shortlisted finalists will compete in:
Keynote Speech: Prepare a 5-minute speech based on the theme "Fly High with Chinese".
Knowledge Quiz: Covering topics related to Chinese language, culture, and society.
Live Cultural Performance: A live display of your Chinese cultural talent(s) during the event.
4. Registration & Timeline
School/Institute Recommendation Deadline:
Each school/institute may recommend 2–3 outstanding students after internal selection. Submit the Application Form by May 7, 2025.
Video Submission Deadline (Cultural Skills):
Submit by May 7, 2025. Videos must be:
Shot in horizontal format
3–6 minutes long
File size ≤ 300MB
Online Poetry Recitation (via Zoom):
To be held on May 24–25, 2025. Evaluation will be based on recitation content and artistic performance. Finalists will be announced afterward.
Offline Final & Award Ceremony:
Tentatively scheduled for Saturday, June 21, 2025. Venue details will be announced separately.
5. Awards & Benefits
Finalist Selection:
The top 6 candidates from the pre-selection round will advance to the finals. Round-trip travel to Kolkata and accommodation (including meals) will be provided.
Awards in the Final Round:
1 First Prize
2 Second Prizes
3 Third Prizes
All winners will receive certificates and prizes.
Global Competition:
The First Prize winner will be recommended to represent India in the global finals in China. The organizing committee will assist with travel arrangements. Global winners will receive generous rewards.
Scholarship Opportunities:
All award winners will be recommended for scholarships to study in China.
Organizational Excellence Awards:
Schools/Institutes that nominate outstanding students will be recognized.
