This graceful composition captures a school of koi fish in fluid, circular motion, symbolizing harmony, perseverance, and the rhythmic flow of life. The orange and black patterned fish, rendered with soft pencil textures and delicate shadows, create a sense of depth and movement against the minimalist background.

"I love horses because they are fast and strong! For this painting, I used my own hands to make the horse's body because I wanted to feel like I was part of the art. I practiced writing the Chinese word for horse (马) so everyone would know it is the Year of the Horse. I painted the sun and the green grass because my horse is happy and loves to run outside!"

This bold, circular canvas explores the vibrant energy of the Chinese zodiac through a fearless "explosion" of primary colors. By first masking out the traditional Chinese character for horse (马), the artist layered a whirlwind of blue, yellow, and red across the surface. When the masking was revealed, it left behind a crisp, white silhouette of the character standing strong amidst the colorful chaos. Created by the youngest artist in the collection, this piece represents a high-energy, youthful interpretation of the horse’s spirited nature.

The artwork draws inspiration from the Chinese Zodiac and its twelve symbolic animals. As someone born in the Year of the Monkey, I chose to give the Monkey special prominence in this composition. The Monkey represents intelligence, adaptability, and lively energy. Through thoughtful use of color and design, I aimed to reflect its dynamic spirit. The piece is both a celebration of cultural tradition and a reflection of personal identity. The Year of the Monkey reminds me to remain curious, resourceful, and optimistic in life.

The Crimson Pair" is a visual exploration of the intersection between the Year of the Fire Horse (2026) and my own birth sign, the Year of the Ox. In Chinese culture, crimson represents vitality, luck, and the transformative power of fire.  This design brings together two seemingly opposite forces: the swift, untamed spirit of the Horse and the unwavering, grounded strength of the Ox. By weaving these two zodiac spirits together, the piece celebrates a balanced approach to the New Year, charging forward with the Horse’s passion while remaining anchored by the Ox’s legendary persistence. It is a tribute to a year defined by both "the spark" and "the soul."

A red maze surrounds the figure, representing protection and life’s journey, while a ring of zodiac characters reflects cosmic cycles.

The lotus, phoenix, and bamboo blend with the Indian banyan tree, creating a visual dialogue between cultures. Merging mandala structures with Madhubani-inspired density, the work explores equilibrium between tradition and personal creation. It suggests that true power is centered, balanced, and aware of its place within a larger world.
