19th "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students in India
To promote cultural exchange between China and India, encourage Indian teenagers’ interest in learning Chinese, and deepen their understanding of the Chinese language and culture, the Chinese Embassy in India will host the 19th “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign Secondary School Students (India, 2026). Details of the event are as follows:
Fly high with Chinese
Age & Status: Current secondary school students in India, aged 12–18.
Nationality: Must hold Indian nationality and have grown up in India.
Language Background: Both applicants and parents must be non-native Chinese speakers.
Exclusion: Finalists of the previous global competition are, in principle, not eligible to participate for two consecutive sessions.
3.1 Online Pre-Selection (To select finalists)
Chinese Poetry Recitation : Any Chinese poem you choose (within 5 minutes) via Zoom (see date below).
Cultural Talent Video: Pre-submit a video showcasing skills such as Chinese song/dance, traditional instruments, opera, calligraphy, painting, or martial arts.
3.2 Offline Final & Award Ceremony (To select Global Finalists)
Theme Speech: A 5-minute on-site speech titled by the student under the theme: "Chinese, Joy & Fun!"
Cultural Performance: Live showcase of Chinese arts and skills.
Internal School Selection: Each school is encouraged to recommend 2 to 3 outstanding candidates.
Registration Deadline: Submit the Application Form by May 6, 2026.
Video Submission: Talent videos must be uploaded by May 6, 2026 - Click here to upload
Requirements: Landscape orientation, max 300MB, duration 3–6 minutes.
Online Preliminary Round: Sunday, May 10 via ZOOM.
Offline Final & Award Ceremony: Tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 23 (Venue TBA).
Finalist Support: The top 3 contestants from the preliminary round will advance to the finals. The committee will provide round-trip airfare, accommodation, and meals for out-of-town finalists.
Certificates & Prizes: Winners of the First, Second, and Third prizes in the final round will receive official certificates and prizes. All preliminary participants will receive commemorative gifts.
Global Finals: The First Prize winner will be recommended to represent India in the Global Final Competition in China.
Scholarship Priority: All award-winning contestants will receive priority consideration for scholarships to study in China.
